Kara is lucky enough to have (at least) 2 grandmas. I know one of her biological grandmas is still alive too. I only had one grandma growing up. My maternal grandma, that I am apparently a lot like, passed away when my mom was in her early 20s so I never got to meet her. My paternal grandma passed away last April.
My mom has Kara at her house for about 10 hours a week. My mom allows Kara to do things that I think are messy, gross, icky... I am so thankful for that. Kara might turn out "normal" because of this. :) They LOVE to play outside...pull weeds, walk barefoot, play in puddles, and dirt. Kara now clearly knows "yes" and answers yes or no appropriately to questions. My mom was asking her a bunch of questions and she nods once, blinks and makes a little grunt if the answer is yes. In the middle of their "conversation" Kara signed "I love you." It was so cute!!
Aaron's mom is wonderful. She has FIVE kids and I feel like whatever we are going through is normal. She has been through and dealt with everything. Both sets of grandparents live nearby and I don't know how couples go through parenthood (especially early parenthood) without their parents close.
Kara has changed so much in the past week. Besides communicating so clearly she just gets more "fun" every day. I LOVE this age. If she wasn't teething 8 teeth at the same time it would probably be a little better at night though.
I have so much more to say. I hope I have time to get it posted in the next few days. We are going to Utah on Thurs. and then from there to Washington on Sat. until the next Thurs. We have been so busy and so much (mostly good) stuff is happening over here that I have had a hard time keeping up with posting.

This post is so sweet. The video of Miss Kara in your shoes made me smile from ear to ear. She is such a precious little girl!
WOW...I cannot believe how smart she is! I absolutely LOVE the videos! Your mom looks like a VERY proud grandma!
I hope that the trips go smoothly.
I'm laughing at your mom letting Kara do the "icky" things. I had to do the same "learn to get dirty" at grandma's house!! Although now times have changed dramatically, she is now grandma and the one teaching my kids to get dirty!!! I guess it must come wihh the grandma title!!
Can't wait to see everybody!
Grandma's love to teach them all the icky things so they can go home and do them and you get to clean them up all the time. We are so kind. I really was the one that taught my kids. Kristina never did like getting dirty and still doesn't. A side note... both my parents are still alive.
